Act One: Upon a hill there is a place I know, where middle class families often go; Middle class husbands smile on the way, with their wives crying out, for what seems like a day; They go to this place when something breaks, And coming in a few hours will be the worst shakes; The husbands naturally pace and whine, The weather outside could be rain or shine. Act Two: Curled up in his arms he hates to leave her, But the father must go, ‘cause there goes the beeper; The radio is off and he thinks heading to work, “If she finds out I’m cheating will she go all berserk?” The wife sits at home milking the baby, She wants another and will call it Jamie; The husband comes home with a scent that’s odd, While his wife’s in their room praying to God; The husband sneaks away to scrub away the smell, That he knows one day might put her through hell; The husband turns around after putting up the beers, And sees his wife has melted into tears; He holds her and asks what is the matter; She whispers in his ear she’s ready to get fatter; Act Three (The Fall) Jamie is two now and Jill is three, Mommy is at home and has dropped to a knee; The garments she’s found she knows are not hers, The husband’s been demoted and is worried about his girls; Six months later he loses his job, Now all he can afford is a corn on the cob; The capitalist steps in with a bail out deal, He’s got a new slave and oh what a thrill... read more
