Open Question: I want to breastfeed,but I've had staph infection.Can anyone help me?

Since I was 24 weeks pregnant I've had several boils or abscesses pop up around my thighs,hips,butt,and 1 or 2 have came up on one of my breasts. I have taken antibiotics for the problem twice and this last antibiotic has stopped them from comming back....so far. I am now 36 weeks pregnant and haven't had an outbreak in at least 2 weeks. My OB/GYN has been blowing me off everytime I tell him about these painful sores. My doctor put me on keflex* and told me to buy a lufa* and scrub really good when I bathe! Of coarse this never worked...so for 3 months I suffered,until one of my chilren had a boil pop up on her bottom,then I freaked out! I quickly took my baby to her pediatrician and her doctor put her on some strong antibiotic medicine and cream,and said that it is most likely MRSA! So,if I gave it to my child,that means I had it too. Does anyone know if it is safe to breastfeed my daughter when she is born? Any information is greatly appreciated! Thanks... read more
